[CS] A Dying Nation

Post by Forg3ttable_S0ul » Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:26 pm

some categories with have a short blurb with this to help you with creating your lore-friendly character, but this is strictly for advice. do what you will when you create your character. It is yours of course.

Name:

Age:
for the age, if you plan on playing a human keep the age over 18, preferably. This is not a school life RP, so there is no reason for a 15 year old with a short sword to be running around with us. Alpox and Elves have extended life expectancy, with some Alpox living to be 300, with their old age becoming apparent only close to the 250 year mark, and elves can live upwards of 500 years if they are lucky, but because of lore reasons, if you make an elf, they should not be over 300 years of age. Faelin are nearly immortal, but the oldest one as of now is 300, with the elders dying in the great battle.

Gender:

Race:

Weapon/magic of choice:
Preferably, it would be easiest for each of us to choose one type of weapon to stick to, but i will allow 2 or 3 if you absolutely must. Just keep in mind, if you, yourself, cant carry the weight of a double-headed battle axe and a claymore on your back, perhaps your dwarf might have some issues as well. I will allow 2 classes of magic if you choose to be a mage, but if you plan on being a mixed class with magic and a blade of some sort, please only choose one class of magic. The classes for magic are: Fire, Earth, Water, Wind, Light, Dark (its illegal to use dark magic if you're an elf, remember this), Conjuration, and healing. If you have any questions or concerns about this section, ask on the request thread of this Roleplay.

Character Description:
keep the description reasonable to the race you have chosen. If you have any glaring issues here, ask about it in the request thread. I would like at least one descriptive paragraph here, but the more details you have, the better. At image is a good frame of reference, but i would like you to refrain from using an image as the sole reference of your appearance, as it is disingenuous to both yourself as a creative writer and to the roleplay as a whole. No over-sexualized images. I'm not opposed to bishoujo elf maidens, but no triple H cups please.

Personality:
Of course, this fluctuates as the character develops in the roleplay, but this will give a bit of assistance with how the characters should interact with each other. Remember, the silent edge lord taboo is not allowed here. I expect your character to be a bit interesting at least in terms of the personality here. I don't expect all of us to be happy-go-lucky, but I would at least like the characters to be easy to work with when interactions happen between both themselves and the world around them.

Character's Backstory:
Remember, we frown upon the "I watched my village burn down with all my loved ones and now I'm SAD" taboo here. make the backstory at least 2 paragraphs, but dont hold yourself back if you want to write more than that. I love details.

Equipment:
This is a rough description of the armor and equipment your character will be using during the roleplay. Of course, you can roleplay changing your equipment out for something else, but this is only to give a frame of reference of what each character will use and be wearing during at the very least the start of the roleplay.

miscellaneous:
If you have anything extra to add about your character, no matter what it may be, please put it in this category. This leans more toward the preference of your characters. For example, if you are an Alpox, you could put here that you are wary of Dwarves, and tend to refrain from interacting with them.

I will state this once again, please keep everything lore-friendly and have it at least make some semblance of sense with the race of your choosing. as funny as it would be to see a 10 foot tall bright pink crocodile man with a massive longbow running around in high heels and a scarlet dress, it doesn't fit here. Any questions at all are best asked in the request thread.

Name: Laitha A'Tuan

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Race: Faelin

Weapon of Choice:
Laitha's weapon of choice is a two-handed battleaxe. The weapon's haft is about 30 inches, meaning Laitha has fairly good range when swinging it. The axe blade itself is double-headed, made of forged steel and inscribed with runes that keep the edge sharp without ever needing a whetstone.

Character Description:
Being of Faelin descent, Laitha appears fairly similar to humans at first glance - though a large, rather imposing sort of human, especially for a woman. She stands just under 6 feet tall, and swinging a battleaxe around has given her very muscular arms and shoulders. She's very athletic overall, though most of her bulk is definitely in the upper body. She usually keeps her hair dyed red with henna, and most often wears it in a braid down her back, tied with a leather cord at the end.

Her appearance isn't just human, however. Like many Faelin, Laitha bears a physical marker of her descent. In her case, it is that her legs from the knee down are more like a goat's than a human's - with short brown fur, and ending in cloven hooves. Also like a goat, Laitha is particularly adept at balance and navigating difficult terrain on foot. Sometimes when in a town where there might be elves, Laitha will wear boots over her feet and pass as a human, but she finds them uncomfortable and prefers not to wear footwear most of the time.

Personality:
Laitha is often slow to speak, but it would be a mistake to assume that she is slow-witted. She tends to think before speaking, and relies on shorter, more relevant comments, rather than talking to excess. She isn't particularly outgoing among other races, though she's fairly comfortable in the company of other Faelin. It's not that she doesn't like people, it's just that most of her exuberance goes into combat. She's never happier than when she is surrounded by enemies, with her axe in her hand.

Backstory:
Laitha was raised in a large city. The particular area she grew up in was largely populated by Faelin, though there were many other races in the city at large, and it wasn't uncommon to see them around. She was the oldest child of the family, followed a few years later by a younger sister. They were as different as night and day - while Laitha was inevitably running around outside whacking things with sticks, her sister preferred the indoors, and gentler things. Nonetheless, the two were very close all through childhood, and it was hard to leave her little sister behind when she went out on her own - but Laitha knew she wanted to be a fighter, and she wasn't going to find what she was looking for in town. Her sister grew up to be a baker, and so Laitha is sometimes oddly well-informed when it comes to pastries, although she really has no desire to make them herself.

Laitha signed on with a mercenary company when she left home, and got her early training fighting bandits. She moved on after a few years, having found she preferred to fight against the weirder things that were out there. She signed on to another company that specialized in undead and Abyssal exterminations, and made herself a name as a relatively seasoned warrior. Again, after a few years she was ready to move on, this time more on her own. She's not quite sure what she'll do next, but she has good references and a healthy amount of experience, so she will certainly find work somewhere.

Equipment:
In addition to Laitha's battleaxe, she also carries a pair of knives, about six inches long and remarkable only in the fact that they are perfectly ordinary. She bought them at a market. Mostly she uses them for small tasks - a battleaxe is great for combat, but not particularly useful for filleting a fish. She wears an armored breastplate - a proper cuirass designed for defense and not for style purposes, and pteruges over a kilt, as well as bracers on her forearms. Her upper arms she generally leaves bare so that she can swing her axe better, and her legs are unarmored for maneuverability, as she has yet to find an armor style that doesn't hinder her Faelin footwork.

Image
Name: Tajira Kilvosic often shortened as Taj

Age: 31

Gender: Female

Race: Orc

Weapon/magic of choice: Someones sword and Healing Magic

Sword: Taj enjoys fighting, what she does not enjoy is weapon maintence. As such the sword she usually wields is just the latest trophy. Taking the sword held by a captain or general and using it until the blade doesn't cut to well or is bent. Where she then takes a new trophy and just uses that. Do to this the weapon usually looks important to an observant eye, which is great at making more fights happen.

Healing magic: Taj isn't fond of armor much and does enjoy pain. The thrill of battle and often times not ideal wardrobe leads to many wounds. Do to this and just not liking friends not getting to fight she is a practitioner of medicine and healing. She can help friends bounce back a fair bit, and is stubborn enough to help herself bounce back from a lot. However everything she heals, has to have a scar! It doesn't matter to Taj if she could do better, she refuses! A scar is a badge of pride!

Character Description:

Tajira is a six foot eight tall Orc of a rather impressive physique. The focus being more on strength though then anything dexterous. While not devoid of athleticism her focus is on might. She's usually one of the strongest in a camp unless there's a lizardman. Much to her frustration. Her skin is obviously green and eyes a intense yellow with features at least facially a bit fair for an Orc. Two teeth usually coming over her top lip. The rest of her figure though is coated in scars, most don't look as lethal as she might play them up to be but there's so many it's hard to count. As for attire it's usually kept underwhelming, or as trophies fit for any commoner and maybe a cloak in most cases. Or when looted they might not fit, but the wares of captains are shiney. Usually she only likes to replace them when to damaged to be functional. While not the best in dressed she tries to keep hair at least kind of under control and to at least shower sometimes. An Orc might not care about the mud and blood but the party she might be with does.

Personality:

Taj is friendly to any company she is with happy to help or even cook. That said her most common traits are being rather simple minded and fight centric. She doesn't want an elaborate plan just to fight, excited at the thought of pain be it giving or receiving. She is a big fan of looting the dead, and not a big fan of lizardfolk. The reptiles are almost always the strongest by default and she does not like it! Taj also loves to exaggerate, her friend wasn't cut on the arm they almost lost it! She wasn't shot in the chest with leather halting it, no she was shot in the heart! Clearly her people are the unstoppable champions and the enemy just awful.

Character's Backstory:

Taj grew up outside of the various cities hunting and enjoying time in the tribe. Eventually though a warband came through. A mix of knights and mercenaries that were passing through on way to a battlefield. Taj insisted she be allowed to go with. They didn't take to at first until she faught three of the mercenaries and almost beat them all. Or at least so she says, the third was rather fine in truth. Point was from then on she traveled among mercenary bands.

They taught her to fight on her insistence. Eventually though one of the members Ajan an elf cleric was annoyed with how many times he had to heal Taj. And thus insisted she learn healing magic under the angle of quote "if your so proud of scars maybe learn how to keep getting them". And that is about as far as her history goes, it wasn't flooded with grief or anything of note. Simply the Orc who loved being hit and hitting back while fighting in her village jumped at the chance to do it as a living.

Equipment:

Besides the sword she usually has a bag with one blanket, some food, and provisions to help set up a camp and cook. She's used to traveling, familiar with keeping it resourceful but light. Of other possible note is herbs and remedies enough to try and help with medicine.

[CS] A Dying Nation

Post by KinginBlack97 » Thu Jan 21, 2021 2:17 am

Name: Daniel Cross

Gender: Male

Age: 23

Race: human

weapon of choice: Daniel, or Cross as is more comfortably called, doesn't use traditional weapons. instead, his own body is the weapon that he utilizes in tight situations. with his alchemical magic coursing through his body, he is able to create different weapons and items from his own arms, legs, hair, and even his blood. one such weapon that he enjoys creating in particular would be a pair of intimidating claws. each of these claws boasts sharp edges. Daniel's fingers will extend to about half a foot into a kind of black metal that ends in wickedly pointed fingertips.

Character Description: Daniel is a young and headstrong man with a knack for getting on people's nerves. with an average build and plain looks, the only thing that's fairly interesting about him is the fact that his hair is almost entirely black, and his eyes seem to glow a pale blue. Daniel has a problem with joking and pranking too much to the point of going too far. it's almost as if he doesn't realize when to stop. along with being a prankster, he's a fairly happy person until someone gets him angry. if angered, Daniel will usually plan some form of revenge in order to get back at whoever it was that angered him. he's also got sticky fingers, meaning that he would probably steal something if it wasn't nailed down.

while he does have many negative aspects, he also has good ones. Daniel is loyal through and through once he makes a friend. he would do anything to make sure those he cares for are safe and unhurt. if anyone he cares for is sad then he'll also do whatever is needed in order to cheer that friend up, even if that means telling awful jokes or stealing from someone. he has a good heart, it's just buried under his idiocy.

Back story: Orphaned when he was but a small baby, Daniel never knew his true parents. he was left on the doorstep of a small orphanage in a village known as Lockhart. this small town was the kind of place that just oozed kindness and family.

that sort of changed when Daniel grew older...

over the years, Daniel learned many things from the small schoolhouse in Lockhart, and one of those things was certainly not math.

at the age of fifteen, Daniel was being bullied by two other boys in his class. one day they tried to beat him up for amusement, but something happened. something snapped within the young Daniel. out of nowhere, his arm turned from regular flesh, to a kind of black metal. it was strange, but with this new ability, the bullies simply ran away from him.

due to this, he became more popular with the other kids in town. sometimes he would do his little trick in order to perform in front of the other kids. the adults didn't know what to really make of it to be honest. this type of magic was unheard of for them.

so, in an effort to understand what had happened with Daniel, the woman in charge of the orphanage took him to see an old magic user that lived out in the country side.

it took a while, but everyone found out that Daniel had a peculiar type of alchemical magic that allowed him to shape shift in a way. the years went by, and Daniel practiced with this new magic that he had. sometimes he created tools out of his limbs, such as pitchforks. sometimes he even learned how to stretch his body like rubber. his imagination was the key, but he didn't know his own limits, so he kept holding back from doing anything bigger than simple tools and rubber. he even ran around town using his ability to prank people and steal things. through this, he gained skills in thievery. he was often punished for it though.

more years went by, and at the age of 23, Daniel decided that he wanted to try and find out about himself. he needed to learn about his parents and even how he had this magic within himself. so, with a teary goodbye to the town, he went on his own journey into the world. with his abilities and skills, he managed to take on small jobs such as guarding shops, fixing things, and even stealing small trinkets for people.

Equipment: Daniel usually wears regular clothing such as a dark green tee-shirt with dark brown trousers. he always carries around a bag over his shoulder with his day to day items and other trinkets that he carries around as well as food.

Name : Hal'Kox

Age: 130

Gender: Male

Race: Alpox

Weapon of Choice:
Staying true to his warrior tribe's roots, Hal'Kox prefers the use of a weapon known as a Macahuitl, a weapon resembling a flat wooden blade with a crude obsidian sawtooth edge. the entire weapon is a solid 3 feet long, and is easily wielded in one hand. The free hand he uses openly to smash at enemies, though he has been known to pick up random weapons from the battlefield and swing them about wildly, causing distress to the enemies that have the displeasure of facing him in combat. In some cases, he won't even bring his favored weapon to bear, but rely totally on his brute strength, decimating enemies with claws and fists, and crushing them between his massive jagged teeth.

Character Description:
Hal'Kox is average for an Alpox, standing at 8 feet with muscle and bulk throughout his body. Scars gathered from tribal infighting cover his entire body from head to toe, with even a few teeth missing from from his jawline. The hard scales of his back are a deep green color, while his underbelly is closer to the beige color of sand. The scaled ridges lining his back are broken in a few places, some from battle, and others from deformity. his usual poster is hunched over whether he sits or stands. With no lips, his bare teeth give his face a menacing appearance when paired with his piercing orange reptilian eyes. Yellowed 6 inch claws don the end of each finger and toe, each coming to a curved point. He has a long thick tail, the only part of his body that give telltale signs of his current emotion. Be it not for the wag or slouch of his tail, his appearance enough makes most people uneasy. The symbol of his Clan, a broken claw in front of a jagged mountain, is etched into his chest. Though scars now break the fine lines here and there, it is still visible for the most part.

Personality:
Hal'Kox is a prideful and confident in his abilities in battle, yet, because of his tribal upbringings, his social skills lack quite a bit. He is fluent in several dialects of Alpoxian tongues, but his english is horrid, and this keeps him from communicating through spoken word with most humanoid races, whether it be from their impatience, or his anxiety towards conversation. Despite his gruesome battle-worn appearance, Hal'Kox is rather kind toward others, hoping that his actions of helping others will speak louder than his broken words. His belief is that all warriors should be symbols of honor and courage much like the symbol embedded in his chest, and conducts himself as such. As silent as he is, he wishes to be known to others as a savior rather than a scourge, no matter how merciless he is towards his enemies, living or dead.

Backstory:
Hal'Kox was born to a prestigious warrior clan deep in the thick jungles of Alpoxia. With a name meaning, "Honorable Beast," even from a young age, his view on battle was not that of slaughter, but that of a venerable battle, where one's skills would be brought to bear against all scalings of challenges and tasks. When he was tasked with slaying a prisoner taken from another tribe after a battle, however, his tribe cast him out, shunning him for cowardice in the face of the enemy. His was fine with the excommunication, thinking it better to be an honorable outcast, rather than a cowardly insider. He took his time to travel to clans all over his homeland, assisting them with everything from Undead and Abyssal monstrosities to simple farm work and construction, thinking no task too big or too small if it meant showing honor in helping others.

On his journey outwards to distant lands, he made himself known to the commonfolk as a gentle giant, though his menacing appearance still scared some. The Alpox he encountered in every land from the Elven Groves to the Dwarven hills showed kindness to him, though some of them shunned him for the exile he was. No matter the race, no matter the place, his words of life, "Show Honor Even in Death," give him a purpose: to show all that even the most gruesome of warriors can still be valiant heroes to some. He now resides within the walls of a human city, doing work here and there for the Adventurer's Guild, dealing with small time crooks, and helping the locals with any task they may need done.

Equipment:
As is with the customs of his tribe, Hal'Kox prefers not to wear armor. Rather, the most he has is leather strappings he wears to hold his Macahuitl, and a thick leather bottom to cover himself appropriately. he wears thick wrappings around his hands and feet to help with grip and padding for walking, but other than this, His equipment is scarce. In his own words, "Warrior No Need Armor! Warrior Only Need Honor!"

Miscellaneous: because of a slightly problematic encounter with High Elves, he is a bit wary of them, though wood elves bring no issue to him.
