Yumi was so engrossed in examining her armor, that she didn't notice Rukagi sitting beside her, offering to clean the rest of it. Yumi blushed a little bit and turned her head to the side, handing him the chestplate and rag, then moved on to the infinitely harder to clean gauntlets. She basically completely submerged the darn things, and shook them around a bit in the already murky water. She soon realized that she would need another rag to dry the armor anyways, so she left the metal armor in the bucket and stood up, turning toward the bar. She was about to go and ask the NPC attending the bar for another rag when she heard a peculiar question. "Hey guys, do you know where the logout button is?" Yumi rolled her eyes as she swiped the air in front of her, looking at her own menu. "Are you an idiot? It's right..." She looked at the blank space where the logout button should've been and gasped in shock, but before she could do anything, darkness enveloped her vision.

For a moment, all Yumi felt was her consciousness drifting in a black void, almost like she was floating in an endless vacuum. Soon enough, her vision returned, and she was in the center of the plaza, people surrounding her on every side. What is going on here? She thought frantically as she scanned the crowd, looking for some answer to her question. As if some diety had heard her thoughts, a tall man that stood at a podium began talking. She recognized him as the lead designer of the game, but she was wondering what he was doing here, shouldn't he be working on fixing the logout function? Then, she heard the line that sent her mind racing: "The logout function was intentionally left out of the retail version of the game.” A chill ran down her spine as he explained what a dire situation this was. Her mouth dropped in shock as the situation steadily became worse as more information came from the man. "To help remind you of what is at stake, I have set all physical parameters of your avatar to that of your real body."

A shock shot through Yumi's mind as she looked down at her... Gloved hands? She wasn't wearing any armor when she had teleported... A small sigh left her mouth when she realized that the trip must have automatically equipped the items that she had in her inventory. Her right gauntlet was soaked though... She examined the rest of her body, noticing that her stomach was completely exposed. "W-what?!" She immediately threw her arms around her chest, leather straps caressing her fingertips. It was the Reaver Straps! The blush on her face grew a bright, crimson red. "Why does this count as clothing!" She shouted covering her barely covered chest. "RUKAGI!" She shouted, looking for the man holding her chestplate.

Jennifer found herself in a situation she was entirely unfamiliar with after standing by the door for a few breaths, nobody seemed to know who she was, and none of them seemed to care what she was doing. In a way it felt almost liberating, but despite that everything still felt alien. The many people taking shelter in this inn wore outfits that most people would try very hard to not be seen wearing in public, yet they treated such attire like it was natural. They spoke of strange topics, such as mobs, quests, and farming, like it was commonplace. They also played with the air infront of their faces with their hands and nobody bat an eye to such behaviour, even those who were talking to them. All of this baffled Jennifer so much that her soaked attire no longer seemed to register in her mind.

She was about to take a step forward to a random nearby group to listen a little closer and maybe get some idea of what all this strangness meant when nearly everyone in the room started to 'crack'. This caused her to once more look around the room in wonder and confusion, those that had cracks forming started to glow from the cracks and lose their color, while those without didn't even bat an eye. Awareness of the cracks started to spread among the people present, but before a comotion could really be made everything went black in Jennifer's vision.

When her sight returned she was standing in the place she first appeared, thankfully the heavy rain was reduced to little more then a drizzle, but this time she was not alone. The wide square was filled with people, each one as confused as the next as to why they were there. Jennifer didn't pay too much attention to what was going one and started to walk out of the square, but before she could leave the crowd she heard someone next to hear mumble in a despair filled voice, "You mean we can't log out? What the hell?!" This person started playing with the air before them then their face seemed to drain of color, "Beat the game? Clear every floor without our characters dying! This is madness, we are gonna die..."

A loud scream seemed to break the silence as uneasiness and despair seemed to loom over the heads of everyone in the plaza. Jennifer was slowly processing this new information until she heard the scream. The scream made her temporarily freeze as her thoughts finally caught up, (What do you mean can't leave?!) Rage and indignation flooded through Jennifer's mind and body as she began to charge towards the podium, shoving everyone out of her way in the path. She yelled angrily as she charged up there, "WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE CAN'T LEAVE! WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS DAMMIT?!" When she reached the podium she started beating on it as hard as she could, tried to tear the book apart, throw it and the pedestal it rested on, and whatever else she could think of to vent her rage but nothing worked. It didn't take long for her legs to seemingly give out as she collapsed to her knees, eyes slightly reddened, and fist lightly pounding the base of the pedestal, "Fuck..."

Aki was frozen. Around her, the silence seemed to swell, to press upon her and leech the feeling from her skin. She felt as if she were spinning as she stared up at the book upon the pedestal, at the words upon the page. In the back of her mind, denial raged, this had to be some sick joke of some sort right? It couldn't be real. But what sort of twisted person would even make this sort of joke?

A scream broke the silence, and drew Aki from her trance. All around her the crowd began to move, listless and lumbering, seemingly with no real direction in mind as the silence was filled as a buzz of voices began to rise in pitch. A girl with orange hair pushed past Aki, yelling at the impassive book which offered no answer. Aki turned as the orange haired girl began to vent her frustrations out on the book, the familiar sound of a different voice yelling drawing her attention away.

Yumi.

It didn't take long for Aki to find, well, something.

A short girl wearing what looked like a top made only of belts with one arm across a modest bosom was yelling for Rukagi. If that wasn't Yumi, Aki would eat her own rapier.

The sky released a rolling rumble, and Aki raised her arm up above her head.

“Yumi! Its Aki! Have you seen Rukagi?” Aki called as she approached. “Also, what are you wearing?” Aki shook her head. Something to worry about later. “We need to grab Rukagi, and get out of the plaza. After that figure out what we are going to do.”

--------

The scream was, without any form of doubt, ear shattering, and Hisa knew this because it was right her. It was in her ear. Hisa spun in place and there was a girl standing on a barrel tumbling forward. Instinctively Hisa’s arms raised in an attempt to catch the falling girl, and she released a light ‘umf’ as the girl’s body slammed into hers. For a brief moment Hisa held firm, but the moment passed. Her left heel slid back across a patch of damp cobblestone and the next thing Hisa knew she was looking up as the coal-gray clouds far above.

She landed hard on her back in a tangle of arms and legs, momentarily stunned as she stared up at the sky above. Nothing here was real, nothing here was physical yet the rain was cold against her skin, the girl on top of her a definite weight against her chest. Was she going to die?

“You ok?” Hisa wheezed.

Koriko's world spun as she fell backward whilst trying to turn her body at the same time to see what and where she would be falling only to see a blur of black and white. And then her vision went black again as her face had collided into something solid. Of course, her eyes were closed when she landed on someone, a well-toned someone who was also soft, and long legs entangled with hers with fingers curled over a pair of- good god what has she done?

“You ok?” the familiar voice had managed to wheeze. It was then that Koriko scrambled to sit up and scoot off of the poor soul she had somewhat straddled.

"Uh, yeah.. I'm fine. I'm okay.. err sorry about that. I wasn't exactly prepared to suddenly grow three heads taller." She sheepishly said and stood up fixing her long-sleeved shirt and skirt. She held out a hand for Hisa to take to help her up. "Uhm. Hisa? right?"
He seemed the sort to even dream in suave.

Rugaki kept on scanning the endless crowd. At this rate, he was never going to find any of them. Perhaps it was best to message them directly, or check the ma- "RUGAKI!" A familiar voice cut off the boy's train of thought. There was no doubt about it, it was Yumi for sure. She seemed to be pretty panicky too. If this is the chest-plate then- oh. It didn't take him long at all for him to figure out why she seemed desperate. Though, it was a pretty reasonable reaction to the announcement anyway. "Yumi! I'm here!" Rugaki waved his hand above the crowd as he weaved through the crowd, tracking the source of the sound. The girl wasn't too far off, and it didn't take much for him to arrive, thankfully, as Rugaki was starting to get embarrassed for her.

As he got the closest he could to the source of the sound, he saw a familiar brunette next to a shorter girl with silver hair. He immediately identified the former as Aki, meaning that the other girl would be Yumi. The blush on her face and the fact that she was using her arms to hide her chest gave it away. "Sorry-sorry!" A blushing Rugaki quickly apologized to the girl as he passed the armour towards her. He tried to look away as he did so. As much as he wanted to point out that being in a crowd likely meant that people didn't really notice her; it was probably best to apologize than to use logical reasoning at the moment. "A thousand pardons Yumi! I didn't mean to." Rugaki apologized frantically as he bowed. While it was probably impossible for him to foresee the recent chain of events, he had to apologize. Rugaki raised his head, looking everywhere but not Yumi has he spoke, "Hey, so uhh.. Right. we should get outta this crowd.. We'll talk after." As the rain was letting up, they probably didn't have to go way back to the Inn. But it was probably best to sit down and talk there. "To the Inn?" That was as much as a declaration as it was a question. Either way, he already started to head towards the other direction. Even though he was quite sure Yumi had her armour on, he couldn't bear to look at her.

As he kept on going, the crowd began thinning. Giving him the space he needed to think about the situation everyone is in. The only way to escape is probably to beat the game, that would take at least a couple months. We would have to heavily grind for the levels. Since there's a supposedly high risk, we should get several levels above the recommended amount before fighting bosses and such. Damnit! I probably have to be held back a year. The young boy took a deep breath and sighed some of his stress away.He looked back once to see if the other two were following him. "At least we're not alone in this right?" He questioned with an uncertain undertone. It was only then he realized that the two actually didn't change that much after they were forced to take on their form in real life. It was strange that Yumi had pretty abnormal coloured hair though, was it dyed? Also, both Yumi and Aki were actually younger than what he would expect, unless he had poor judgement on their age. He wasn't going to ask and check though.

A short power walk between the ruffling crowd revealed the source of the scream mere seconds after it ocurred; perhaps it was someone whose life was in actual danger, that crossed Ichiro's mind at first, until he caught a glimpse of the situation. Two females, one on top of the other and about to rise to her feet, a pile of boxes scattered besides them and a very awkward air. He assumed one of them fell and brought the other down, perhaps by running into each other, which caused the ruckus. He didn't just stand and watch, he had come all this way after all; so he raised his left hand to wave slightly before making his presence known.

"Hey, you two good?" He called out as he approached the pair, stopping a few feet away and lowering his arm. "I heard a scream and figured I'd check it out, thought someone could be in trouble-- Well, more trouble." He rolled his eyes, trying to emphasize the situation in which they were with his last words. The woman who was being helped up had caught his attention, which caused him to fixate his eyes on her; she looked familiar, though he couldn't tell for sure who she was.
I'm happy.

Awkward.

Awkward was a very good word. Someone falling on top of you was awkward, realizing that person was very soft was awkward, and coming to the distinct realization that they had just grabbed your -- oh dear -- by accident was doubly as awkward.

Was this going to end up in a tabloid magazine?

A silly thought.

The other girl, seeming to realize what had happened quickly scrambled up into a sitting position, which didn't really help the visual any. Someone sitting on your lap rarely made for innocent optics. The girl, seeming to realize this position was no better than before hurriedly scrambled up to her feet.

“Uh, yeah.. I'm fine. I'm okay.. err sorry about that. I wasn't exactly prepared to suddenly grow three heads taller." The girl said, sheepishly as she adjusted her rumpled clothing. Hisa, poorly, stifled a laugh as she elbowed her way up to a sitting position.

“It’s not a problem, just an accident,” Hisa said, taking the other girl’s hand and pulling herself up.

“Uhm. Hisa right?” The girl asked.

“Yeah, are you-”

“Hey you two good?” A familiar voice cut in. Hisa turned in their direction, her mind already narrowing in on who this was. The guy who had been asking how to access his menu.

“Ichiro?” Hisa asked, he didn't seem too different from his avatar earlier, a little older perhaps, but generally the same. Her gaze shifted back to the girl. She didn't look anything like the little girl from earlier, but the equipment was the same. “Koriko?”

Well, if she was stuck, at least she had already made some acquaintances. Above, the sky once more rumbled discontent as the light drizzle turned to a steady rain, and branches of lighting raced between gray clouds.

“Perhaps we should find an inn or tavern and talk there?” Hisa offered, lifting her cape in a dismal attempt to ward off the rain.

------

Aki followed. She didn't have any sort of plan, nor any real idea as to what she should do, which made Rugaki’s just as good as anything because it was simply something to be doing. Her body was moving, and that somehow made her feel like she was accomplishing something, even if all she was actually doing was following through the void Rugaki left as he weaved through the crowd. It wasn't long before the three had reached the edge of the plaza and had started down a road which would take them back to the King’s Boar.

Almost as if it were an announcement, there came a heavy rumble from far above as brilliant flash of light momentarily brightened the street, and the rain began once more in earnest. Water splattered against her head and shoulders, made her boots slick, and chilled her arms as she fumbled in her attempts to pulled her hood once more over her head. But the bigger problem was now behind them, just shy of fifteen thousand players would soon be leaving the plaza in search of shelter, and Aki felt certain that the inn didn't have infinite room.

“Let's move it!” Aki called, as she broke into a light sprint.

NPCs stood at door ways Aki passed during her run, each calling out their warm fires and fine drink for players to enjoy while they waited for the rains to pass. Aki however was now a woman on a mission, so she did not take any of them up on their offers as she continued her run to the inn. By the time Aki reached the King’s Boar she felt as if she had been pushed into a lake as some part of a cruel joke. Her cloak felt several pounds heavier, her boots having proven their worth in keeping water out, and her shirt and skirt stuck to her skin as if the vaguely translucent cloth were afraid it would slide off her skin if it didn't hold onto her.

The run proved itself to be a good thing, the inn was seemingly empty by the time the trio arrived. It helped to have had an early start. Leaving a trail of waterprints behind Aki hurried over to the reception desk, the innkeeper leaning forward as she approached.

“Hello, can I help you?” He asked, a genial smile on his lips.

“I’d like a room.” Aki said. The man brightened.

“Well you’re in luck, we have only one vacancy remaining.” The man said, a pop-up menu appearing once he finished the statement.

At the top read “Party Room Rental” followed by a pair of simple questions. “How many beds are required” and “will the price be split evenly.”

Aki looked back at two other two, and raised an eyebrow in question.

From one second to the other, Ichiro's curiosity became surprise, as he recognized the voice of the woman who spoke his name right after he arrived. He raised both eyebrows, his eyes fixated upon the female figure standing before him; it was very familiar. "Yeah, Hisa... Right?" He responded calmly, scanning her from top to bottom to confirm his thoughts. He had a name on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't spell it out, it was starting to bother him. If it wasn't enough, the rain just threatened to worsen once again, what a day.

"I--" He was about to ask about her and see if he can get a hint, but the situation was top priority. "Yeah, we should find shelter, and quick. How many Inns are there in here?" He opened his menu in one swift movement and checked the map; trying to find the place where he had been moments ago. "I was in one before being transported here, though there could be another close by." He ran his eyes through the map before turning to both girls, addressing the new face. "And what could be your name, new miss?"
I'm happy.

Yumi quickly equipped the chestplate given to her by Rukagi, her face still blushing a deep red. "Y-you better be sorry... Dummy..." She took a deep breath, trying to keep herself from hyperventilating. Just stay calm... Her thoughts began racing as the embarrassment of the previous situation began to fade. They were... Trapped... A small part of her wanted to curl up in a corner, but she couldn't show weakness in the face of this challenge. She had to look at it from another perspective! She just had to only think of the positive! This game was beautiful, and she had a few people that she felt like she could rely on. They could definitely overcome this if they put their minds to it!

As she tried to fire herself up, Aki and Rukagi had already began moving through the crowd, moving toward the King Boar's Inn. She deftly snapped out of her trance and burst forward in a full sprint. The few people who had already began moving through the path that Rukagi and Aki had carved were pushed to the ground as she barreled her way past. The slight drizzle had picked up quite a bit since they were in the plaza, and began to pour. Water struck her iron plate, seeping into the delicate joints and rivets, chilling her to the bone. "I just cleaned this!" She shouted as she ran, her iron greaves beginning to fill to the brim with water.

Yumi let out a sigh of relief as she finally spotted the duo headed into the Inn. She was relieved too soon. At this point, the rain had a thin sheet of water covering the road, hiding any obstacles that may lie underneath. As if her day wasn't getting any worse than it already was, a dip in the water covered road caught her by surprise. It was a small hole, one that was easily noticeable had the ground not been covered in shimmering liquid. The tip of her iron boot caught the edge of this hole, and sent her tumbling forward, ultimately ending up right in front of the Inn. A loud clank followed, as iron met water and stone. She lied on the ground for a moment, wallowing in her pity, her eyes stinging from the rain before slowly getting up and walking into the Inn.

As she walked inside, the warmth of the roaring fire hit her, and she suddenly felt much better. She walked slowly toward the two standing at the innkeep's desk, making sure to take her time. As she reached the pair, Aki looked toward her expecting an answer. She panicked for a moment, not knowing what to say, and just blurted out and awkward "YES." At this point her face turned a bright red, her rose irises scanned Aki, wondering what she had just agreed to.

Natz trudged back to the inn slowly, afraid that even the slightest prick or bump would be her end. She jumped at the slightest sound, again and again until she broke down and had a small panic attack in front of the inn. She felt uneasy and only just stopped herself puking her guts out from the stress.

"These people are pro gamers. I've never even understood video games for an eighth of the time they've been playing them. I'm doomed. I'm DEAD."
the thoughts tore through her head like a freight train, smashing through all the poor attempts to steel herself and leaving behind shattered hopes and diesel smoke. Struggling to hold herself together, she stepped into the inn, maybe some kind of sleep would calm her before another, more severe panic attack hit.

"Sorry, but there's only one room left and these two are renting it. Besides, it's for parties only." The innkeeper told Natz, and her heart sank. She needed sleep desperately, not only to try to loosely prop up her failing resolve but also to ease her stomach. Having just nearly vomited and seeing all these people eating and drinking made her even more queasy.

She simply HAD to have a room.

She quickly turned to where the others were pondering over the screen in front of them, listing how many beds would be needed. There was still time!
Natz thought on her feet and "accidentally" knocked into the girl as she was about to press the button to confirm her purchase. What she had failed to take into account was how fast she was moving when she initiated the impact, or how hard she pushed, or how uneven the floor was... To make a long story short, instead of a slight nudge to get her attention off her current task ended up more of a soft tackle, pushing the two young women against the wall.

Natz immediately jumped to her feet. "OHGODI'MSORRYIDIDN'TSEEYOUWELLOKAYIKINDADIDBUTIDIDN'TMEANTODOTHAT..." she blurted out as fast as possible before catching her breath and avoiding throwing up again. She took a deep breath and turned to the girl she had just body slammed, who seemed kinda freaked out. "Okay, let me try that again. Sorry for that, I was just kinda clumsy, heh...So you're booking the last room are you...?" As soon as that last question left her mouth her body language went into overdrive trying to hint at the pair to let them accommodate her.

Natz wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings, so when a voice echoed nearby saying only the word "YES." she took that as confirmation and pulled the boy and girl into an awkward hug out of misplaced glee. A few seconds later she came to her senses and saw the girl that had just entered, the exact direction the voice had come from. The awkward air returned and Natz quickly pulled away again, trying her hardest not to ramble once more. She sighed and asked properly. "Could you let me stay the night with you? I just learned that I'm likely going to die and to be honest, I'd feel quite embarrassed and insulted if it was the weather that took my life." she asked in her most serious and respectable tone of voice as possible. Given the events that had transpired mere seconds ago, she didn't like her chances, but it didn't hurt to see what their responses would be.
