[1×1] Angel Hunter (xBlackxAcex)

Post by ariagrey » Sat May 09, 2020 11:40 am

"Close the door." The man's voice sounded deep and angry. The brunette stood outside for a moment before stomping in and closing the door loudly. "I can explain." Her light blue eyes pleaded with the man. "It wasn't supposed to happen that way. We were-" the mans hands slammed his desk giving her pause. His head hung low and she could see he was almost trembling with rage. "Damn it Lua! We had a plan!" He looked back up at her. "I know i-" Lua began, but the man groaned and threw his hands up in surrender. "You always know! You always have an excuse! Our people died today!" His last words sat in the room like a weight on her chest.

Their people did die. Angels. Eight of them gone, wings ripped off for souvenirs. That's what he did, the Angel Hunter. A man rose up and began to hunt their kind one by one with such skill and wrath. At first the angels were at a loss on what to do and then the leagues of warriors formed. They prepared as if for battle, training endlessly and sending the most skilled to help find this man and stop him.

Lua clenched her fists at her sides, the feeling of guilt washing over her. Her mouth opened to say more, but no words would fix what had happened. No words would be good enough. She had made a bad call and the consequences weren't even close to worth it. The man sighed as he slunk into the chair behind the desk, his hand holding his forhead. "Just go Lua. Do your training. Keep yourself busy until I call you." Lua chewed the inside of her lip before saying, "Sir." She gave a slight bow and then left the room.

"Hey! How'd it go?" A head full of red curls followed behind Lua as she quickly walked through the halls of the building and outside. "That bad huh? I mean, I didn't hear much yelling so it could be worse. Considering the situation anyways. I don't like saying I told you so, but-" Lua stopped dead in her tracks and stared up at the tall, redheaded man. "The hell you don't, it's your favorite phrase! A millenia of friendship and I still don't know how we keep getting into these situations." Lua began to walk again, the man sighing and following suit. "These 'situations' you're talking about, sorry to say, happen because you're stubborn and impulsive. I know you didn't mean for this to happen. Captain Leon knows that too." The man walked quicker to get in front and turned to face her. He began to walk backwards. "Hey, I'm trying to have a serious conversation with you!"

Lua stopped once more and groaned in exasperation. "And I'm trying to avoid it! People died Rowan! Our people...because of me." Her voice trailed off at the end and she could feel tears threatening at the back of her eyes. "I just want this guy caught. He needs to be stopped. I need to stop him." Rowan ran a hand gently over his red curls before placing that same hand on her shoulder. "You'll get him. We'll get him. We just need to have a plan." Lua leaned into her friend and placed her forehead on his chest. "Why do you have to be so annoying?" She pouted and sniffled, Rowan chuckling in response. "I wouldn't be completeing my duty as a best friend if I wasn't. Now let's go." Rowan placed his muscley arm around his friend's shoulders and the pair walked off.

A few weeks passed and things had remained fairly quiet. It felt strange to live among the humans as if this was how Lua had always lived. She had to admit, the food was amazing and so she found herself in a small convenience store a few blocks away from her apartment. "Thanks." She tossed the cashier a twenty, grabbed her bags, and headed out the door. It was a warm summer evening and the sun was setting near the horizon. Lua adjusted her cream colored dress as she walked, her combat boots clicking slightly on the concrete. Ever since her failure Captain Leon had try to keep her in the loop without having her directly involved. Rowan updated her on anything she missed and it was beyond frustrating for her to not be in the thick of it.

Lua kept up with her training in the gym and at home and scoured the internet for any information on the Angel Hunter she could find. She still couldn't figure out how he knew who the angels were. As it were, angels looked like anyone else. Just humans walking around, going about their daily business. Unless they wanted to be seen. Yet this man somehow could find angels with ease and it made her wonder if he was more than a man.

While Lua was lost in thought she hadn't noticed she was being followed. As soon as she walked in front of an alleyway the stranger charged into it, forcing her to drop her bags. With a grunt she hit the brick wall of the building, her eyes flashing to the man as he pinned her to the building. It was him, the Angel Hunter.

When Seth saw the angel walk out of the convenience store, his eyes glowed purple. His ears rang. Pushing off the wall, he pulled his black cap over his eyes and followed her while maintaining a safe distance. Watching her, his now blue irises scanned the area for surveillance and people before returning his gaze to the cream dress. The dress swayed slightly with the swing of her hips, and the fabric hugged the curve of her body. In his twisted mind, the thought of removing the clothing was supposed to be tempting, but he couldn't get past the wings. They taunted him and reminded him of his purpose. His hands tightened into fists. He followed, observed her for several weeks. She trained at the gym consistently, ran into the convenience store for quick groceries, and searched the web. He knew she was looking him from the nights he spent watching her apartment. After he managed to get the eight pairs of wings under his belt, thanks to her, he offered them and their accompanying souls to the goddess Ernysia, but as always, the goddess demanded more. It was the same thing as before playing the grim reaper. He needed more angels, but there was an external disturbance that hindered him from efficiently hunting. That angel.

He spotted the alleyway. In seconds, he had her pinned against the brick wall, but because she was faced towards him, she saw him face up close though it was slightly dark. Fuck! He had to kill her, or she could ruin everything. His large, muscular frame loomed over her, and his grip constricted around her wrists. At the sight of the angel, his eyes glowed. The ringing started and bells sounded in his head. He had to remain calm, or he'd go berserk. His eyes reverted back to its normal color.

"I'll give you a deal Angel. You either get out of my way, or you're next."

Lua felt his grip tighten around her wrists, but she did not react. If she could have, her bright blue eyes would have pierced him. The angel knew it was him and not just some thief or pervert. Her instinct told her otherwise. She felt sick at the thought of him touching her. Hands that had slain so many of her people. His skin felt hot against hers and his hands rough and calloused. Lua scoffed at the bargain he was trying to strike. "Do you really think your threats scare me? Murderer."

Her last word was sharp, poignant. She wanted it to make him feel something, to cut him deep, but she doubted he could feel anything at all after all he had done. The grit from the bricks of the building was digging into her arms and her wings were beginning to feel suffocated. "Why would I let you continue to kill my people? What kind of deal is that?" Lua's jaw ticked as she stared into the hunter's face. In a different situation and in another life, he would have been attractive. The shape of his strong jaw, the stuble that speckled his face, the way his eyes held her. But it wasn't another situation and it wasn't another life. All Lua could feel was the anger rising inside her and the want to kill him.

"Call me whatever you want. It's quite the steal. One less of your kind will be dead, and it could be you." Seth thought the deal was worth its value, and he always kept his word. Angels were stupid, stubborn like humans and the need to be loyal and selfless prodded him. He cocked his head, staring into her eyes. The eyes were a window into the soul. It was a shame that she wouldn't take him up on his offer, and he didn't understand why not. Angels stripped him of joy but claimed the opposite. "But it's funny, you lot sound like a broken record. They all said the same thing before I..." He trailed, pretending to forget what he'd done. He pressed her body flush against his chest, not wanting to deteriorate the quality of the wings.

"Okay, let's forget about this deal then. How about a different deal?" With one arm wound tightly across her back, he brought one hand up to touch her face. "An eye for an eye, leg for leg, arm and arm, the like whatever it says. You took someone of mine , and I took...many of yours." In a compromised position, he toyed with her, wanting to see her break. See if she'll lose it. It was an obvious given that she wanted to kill him. His lips twisted into a crooked grin. "You want to kill me right? Do it. I'll let you and even let you have the credit if you return the person stole from me." He held his breath and shook his finger before she could interrupt him.

"But no tricks. I will kill you instantly if you do."

Lua released a grunt as the hunter's arm wrapped around her and pulled her close. She pushed against him but to no avail. He was much stronger than she had expected, especially for a human. The angel felt so exposed without her gear, but she did not expect to need it while picking up a few things from the store. Had he been watching her? For how long? Her privacy felt violated adding fuel to the fire.

The hunter's fingers traced the curves on her face as he spoke which caused her to yank her head away from his touch. Lua glared at the hunter as he finished his proposition. The silence hung in the air between them, the sound of Rowan's voice in her head telling her they needed to have a plan to stop this guy.

Lua could tell the humidity was getting to the both of them. The hunters grip was becoming clammy and dispite his cap, she could see a slight sparkle of sweat at his temples. The thought of him allowing her to kill him was tempting. She would be revered by her people for millenia to come, as the angel who slayed the Angel Hunter. But there was one thing that was giving her pause. "What do you mean we took something from you? Is this some sort of tantrum because your toy got taken away?" She scoffed, her attitude apparent. "Besides, what assures me this isn't some trap to kill me first? How could I ever trust someone who kills my people?"

Tantrum? My toy? Kotori? His nostrils flared, and his smirk dropped. His fingers squeezed around her arms. To hell with deals and wings, he saw red, and he was tired of her attitude. He slammed her into the wall and pressed his arm against the angel's throat. He disregarded her wings and shoved her further into the wall, wanting to see her suffer. Cry. Feel the pain he he felt when he lost his love. "Bite your tongue. I'll kill you just for that." Seth seethed. He gave her a chance, so the next step was to kill her. He shouldn't have exploded and reacted like he did. It gave the angel satisfaction. Turmoil wrecked havoc behind his eyes. He could only blame it on being human for being such impulsive and emotional creatures. "I don't kill without reason. But, you kill your own without thought. Those eight? You sent them to die, knowing what was going to happen."

"Who's worse? Me or you? I think I know, and your captain does as well. That's why you're here while the others are trying to find me." Seth reached around to stroke her faltering wing. He stifled a chuckle as she tried evade his touch once more. "Seeing that you're not convinced and refused my offer, I'll have to kill you, but I'll give you one last chance to reconsider."

As soon as his smile dropped Lua knew she had struck a cord. A yelp escaped her lips as she made contact with brick once more. Her vision began to blur, her airways being restricted. While the hunter spoke she was filled with panic, regret, anger. She still wasnt over having sent her own to their deaths. It hadn't been the plan. So for him suggest that she had done it on purpose hurt more than any physical blow.

Lua's hands gripped at the man's arms, nails digging into flesh searching for purchase. She was going to die, she could feel it. Her wings would be another trophy for this monster. The angel's vision began to blacken at the edges, her body desperate for oxygen. Was this really how it would end? Rowan flashed before her eyes and the pain he would feel if she were gone. What was worse, she couldn't stand the thought of not being here to protect him, to help him. Rowan was her best friend and the best thing she had in this world.

"I-" her hands pulled at his arms, searching for enough room to speak. "I-i'll do i-it!" She gasped out. As soon as she felt his grip loosen the angel shoved him away. Lua bent over coughing, grasping at her neck. She had begun to see stars, lightheaded she gripped at the wall for stability. Her gaze was cast down to the ground, unable to bring herself to look at the hunter, for she hardly knew what kind of deal she agreed to.

"Glad, we could come to an understanding." Seth inspected the nail marks in his arm, then he fixed his hat and pushed back his sweaty hair. The rush of euphoria and adrenaline pumped through his veins. He felt her life slipping at his hand, and he was slightly down that he didn't get to kill her. "Everyone's scared of death when they have unfinished business. Looks like we have to wait until next time angel." He crouched down, craning his neck to get a look at her face. To look in her eyes and see the weight of doubt and fear. He folded his hands in the space between his knees. His eyes raked over her body, turning dark with malice. "Unless you give me what I want, of course. And I'll give you what you want. Remember no tricks, and oh-you can't tell anyone. Cause I really don't need to get stabbed in the back" Cracking his neck, he rose to his feet and kicked over a bag of groceries. Forcing her to look at him, he grabbed her face.

"Angel, do I make myself clear? You return what's mine, and I stop killing your people. Got it?"

"I said fine." Lua spit out, the sting of tears threatening at the back of her eyes. She couldn't remember the last time she cried. Of course having her people slaughtered had made her want to, but it felt pointless to shed any tears then. She pushed his arm away from her face, his touch too much to bare, as she blinked before giving him the satisfaction of seeing her cry. Strands of her dark brown hair had fallen out of her braid and into her face so she tucked them behind her ears.

"How can I return what was taken from you if I dont even know what it is?" Lua couldn't meet his eyes again. She adjusted the fallen strap of her dress back on her shoulder before gathering and picking up her groceries. It was hard for her to fathom what the angels could have possibly taken from him that would have so much value to cause him to go on a killing spree. The angel clenched her jaw and met his eyes once more. She felt like she was betraying her people. What would Captain Leon say? Hell, what would Rowan say? "I'll get you what you want, as long as you stop hunting my people."

“Cross my heart and hope to die.” He actually looked forward to dying, and it wasn’t the first time he had. He proposed the same deal to angels before, but they lied to him and weren’t able to do it. Drawing a cross over his heart, Seth stepped back to give the angel space to collect herself. He saw no need to pester her further since he was getting what he wanted, hopefully. He hoped that this angel could hold up her end of the deal. Seeing her shed tears was a bonus nonetheless as he could make her do worse things like hand-delivering her people to him as torture. He was a simple man, and he only wanted one thing. If the deal goes successfully, it would be like he never existed, angels would no longer be at harm's way because of him.

“I want you to return a human soul by the name of Kotori Magaki. She’s my lover.” Seth hadn’t spoken her name in so long that it sent a chill through his heart. It was a strange and eerie feeling. The small alley was stuffy and humid, and it fogged his train of thought. A memory came to mind, and it warmed his heart. "Next time," she hissed, "If you are going to have the audacity to die like a hobo in an alley, then I want nothing to do with such a pathetic creature." Glancing at the angel then at the street, he went back to the angel. Her weakened state delighted him thoroughly. He was done being in the alleyway. He made a deal with the angel, but he didn’t know if she saw it as a ceasefire like he did. He was vulnerable out in the open, and he kept his guard up. He didn’t want to speak more on her name in open space. “I’ll contact you to speak more in detail on a later date. I see that you’re not in the best state to discuss the matter effectively like I want. Do you need to be escorted to your apartment?”
