Honestly, my issue with Rey is her level of power and proficiency solely through instinct. Unless she really is Anakin reborn to atone for his sins, she just feels... like she's on the Jedi Council before earning the rank of Master
Bc you said that, I know you haven't watched the last jedi yet. So after you do, if you continue with this opinion we can talk about that.

Edit: also, Kylo Ren was able to stop a blaster using the force. All Rey did, besides fighting him with a light saber and we already know she's a skilled fighter, was to summon the lightsaber during that battle, after he hurt her friend. And anger, any strong emotion really have always been used in fiction to justify someone's improvement in battle

Well let's be honest. The movie is good, but it's not good enough to be a Star Wars movie. I went with my friend, who loves the Star War franchise. We went into a restaurant before hand while he was dressed as Darth Vader. Complete with all the bells and whistles. And after the movie he had a look on his face off total disbelief.

My opinions are simple:

Pros
Movie looks great, especially the world design (minus the one from the Finn subplot)
Some interesting ideas about the Force
Fight scenes were amazing

Cons (Only a few)
Plot holes everywhere in sight
Completely threw away things JJ Abrams set up in the Force Awakens
Poor writing
Poor pace
Terribly boring (See Finn subplot)
Destroys characters whose personalities were set up years ago

I'm sorry. But to me this is a terrible Star Wars movie. It was shot like a Star Wars film, but lacking the writing and direction. I am not looking forward to the final part of this trilogy as I'm sure JJ Abrams will not be able to salvage it. Nor am I planning to see the following trilogy written by Rian Johnson

I can totally respect your opinion, despite not agreeing with some of it. You didn't like it, had higher expectations, fine. I honestly love the new movies, but I have one question to ask, I hope it doesn't sound disrespectful.

If The Last Jedi is a terrible Star Wars movie, what is The Phantom Menace for you?

They are more or less the same to be honest with you. Only decent parts in the Last Jedi was the action scenes, the only parts of the Phantom Menace I enjoyed was The final fight scene and the podracing.

Least the Last Jedis battle between the First Order and the Resistance is better than the Gungans vs Droids

Mind you, after seeing it so many times I could do without the podracing

I hate the prequels. I find them boring, the visual effects are shit, the acting is awful and the writing is cringy. What they have is the nostalgia effect, which I think makes a lot of the fandom swallow it, when comparing to the new trilogy. Star wars will never be the original trilogy, it's been done, now it's something else. I hope you will sometime change opinions on this movie, because when you're not comparing it to the original product it really is (well, in my opinion) a great source of entertainment.

You should absolutely see it, it's one of the best Star Wars movies to come out in a while. It tackles the same themes as the prequels but is actually good.
