In response, Kirby simply frowned, staring down the hall quietly for a moment more.

--

Sub-Zero burst into the Waddle Dees' quarters, heading straight for the fire that burned in the center of the room. The young Kiridan set Meta Knight down on a cushion near where she saw Mel had already been placed right in front of the fireplace, ignoring the terrible heat that blazed toward her. Meta Knight was more important right now.

Since Meta Knight had fallen unconscious with his wings still out, Sub-Zero unclipped her torn lavender cape, and gently folded his wings close to his body before wrapping her cape around him the way he'd normally do with his own cape, hoping that would help him build up some warmth.

The gray puff stood back and looked at the unconscious warrior. There was nothing more she could do for him now. All she could do was wait... and hope.

She turned and stalked back out of the room, briskly heading down the hall once again, where she approached Indigo.

The Kiridan stopped and stared up at the Thodroni, her eyes now glittering with determination. "I found out the cause of this blizzard," she told him. "I am the only one here who can withstand this cold and still fight, so I am going to go out and take care of things myself. Please keep an eye on Kirby while I am gone. And check in on those two every now and then, please?"

Indigo nodded once. “I will. Good luck out there.”

Sub-Zero dipped her head. "Arigato gozaimasu."

The warrior then turned and opened the door, slipping back into the icy arctic world outside. Sub-Zero charged off into the howling winds, gripping the hilt of her sword, as her eyes began to glow white as the snow.

For once, it was up to her to restore peace to Dreamland.

A long time passed after Sub-Zero left the castle. Ten minutes, twenty minutes, thirty minutes, an hour. All the while, Meta Knight had still not awoken.

However, after a little while, another series of knocks suddenly sounded against the castle's vast wooden doors. Sub-Zero, perhaps?

"Somebody, please let me stay here," an unfamiliar voice suddenly pleaded from outside, sounding rather desperate.

Indigo then followed down Sub-Zero's path, entering the room with the large fireplace. He quietly knelt down by his husband, and while he held Kirby in his left hand he stroked the side of Mel's face with his right hand softly, feeling his fur. He felt ready to cry, but he choked back the tears that threatened to run down his face at any moment. Would he really make it...?

Please wake up...

--

The door was opened rather by Tybalt this time, those hair was tied back into a wavy ponytail now. He was bundled in a rather thick black coat, warm fluffy animal fur around the collar and wrists. He didn't use the door as a shield like Indigo had done, instead braving the heavy frostbitten winds that spilled inside. "Get inside. Hurry," he said gruffly, a lit cigarette held in between his lips.

As soon as the door was opened, whoever it was stumbled inside quickly, stopping a few feet from the door.

They slowly straightened their posture, and turned around toward Tybalt. It was a Kiridan female, and one who bore a striking resemblance to Sub-Zero at that.

She had pale gray skin, just slightly lighter in color than Sub-Zero's fur. Her wings were a shade of light purple, and though it was hard to tell while they were tucked so close to her body, they appeared to be more elegant and dove-like, rather than the owl-like wings Sub-Zero had.

Her eyes held a deep, captivating dark purple color, being of a rather similar shape to Sub-Zero's, though this Kiridan's were far more captivating in comparison. She had rosy pink cheeks similarly to Kirby or Meta Knight, and wore a pair of white gloves as many Kiridan adults did. Around her body was a warm-pink shawl, tied into a ribbon at the front, with thick straps that went over her arms. This shawl turned into an elegant pale-pink cape that flowed out at the back below her wings, trailing behind her body for a few inches.

Even her expression was similar to Sub-Zero's, just a quiet, demure, "I hope I'm not getting in anyone's way" look, with the tiniest of shy smiles on her face.

"Thank you," the Kiridan said with a polite nod. She didn't exactly seem to be quite as shy as she looked- just reserved and polite. "My name is Lilla Fairsky."

The dragon gave one small nod of greeting after he closed the door behind her. Tybalt always seemed angry about something, but it looked like something really was troubling him given his expression. He definitely wasn’t in a talking mood, at least.

“Fireplace is down the hall,” he said quietly, finally holding his cigarette with his fingers instead so he could talk without it interfering with his speech.

Lilla nodded gratefully and headed down the hall, eventually arriving in front of four doors. One pair was far larger, built for taller creatures to enter and exit. Then, further down, built into the larger doors, was a pair of smaller doors, just the perfect size for something no bigger than an average adult Kiridan to get in and out.

Lilla opened these smaller doors and entered, pulling the door closed behind her. She looked up to see a large Waddle Dee-filled room, with a big fireplace burning at its center that was the chamber's only light source, giving it a warm and cozy feel.

Near the front of the room closest to the fire, besides some scattered huddled Waddle Dees, she saw what looked like two wolf-like creatures, one laying on the floor unconscious, and the other sitting next to him with a worried expression. Not far from them was a slumped armored shape that looked like it might have been an unconscious Kiridan knight, wrapped in a torn, faded purple fabric in front of the fire. A small, round, pink shape was curled up against this one, as if he'd been trying with all his might to keep the other warm. The smaller shape, appearing to be a baby Kiridan, was clearly fast asleep right now, his little face tucked under his stubby arms as his body rose and fell rhythmically.

Lilla then swept her gaze toward one of the darker corners of the room, farther away from the fire and mostly untouched by its light, where she saw another seemingly armored figure huddled in the shadows. A pair of intimidating pinkish-red eyes was the only thing about the figure that could be seen clearly, seemingly fixated, unblinkingly, on the unconscious warrior. The look in those eyes was quite hard to place, somewhere in between a raging, burning anger, and a deep sorrow.

Everyone here looks so worried or sad...

Lilla finally glanced back toward those in front of the fire, when something in the fireplace caught her eye. Mostly concealed by the crackling flames, she saw a glimpse of something light blue curled up right on top of the burning logs, a stripe of blue fur sticking up on its spine. It looked like it had four light purple spikes coming out of its back, two on each side, and an elegant dark purple mane hung from the creature's neck.

A Wolfwrath? Lilla thought in surprise and confusion. A Wolfwrath, here? Just laying there, sleeping? She'd heard of supposed tame Wolfwraths before, but she'd never really believed it, especially after Nightmare had essentially gotten a hold of the entire species long ago.

Vermilion, if he was still alive, would be the oldest member of his kind. But Lilla had her doubts that even he could have made it through the entirety of that horrid, brutal war against Nightmare. Almost no one had. Not even her own husband and children had survived, as far as she knew.

Lilla sighed softly to herself, standing a short distance from the fireplace, a few feet from where the two wolf-like creatures were. A few Waddle Dees watched the winged newcomer curiously, but didn't dare move from where they huddled, desperate not to lose warmth.

She smiled kindly at their curious glances anyway, but her true interest was with those wolfish creatures nearby. They were almost like both normal wolves and Wolfwraths, and yet they were like neither at the same time. They greatly intrigued her.

Lilla slowly approached where the purple one sat, since she wanted to be a bit closer to the warmth of the fireplace anyway. Once near, she looked up at him with a polite smile. "Hello. Do you mind if I sit near here?"

“Go ahead,” he replied quietly, not looking at Lilla once. He was evidently deeply worried about the gray one lying next to him.

Lilla sat down in front of the fire, settling down on one of the vacant cushions set out around the fireplace. Once comfortable, the Kiridan unfolded one of her wings slightly, moving a small, round, deep-blue object that was nestled in the crook of her right arm, beneath the scarf-like piece of clothing she wore tied around her body. It fit perfectly into her hand, being about the size of her paw itself, but no bigger than that.

She appeared to examine the object closely for a moment, before setting it down in front of her on the warm cushion. Whatever it was, it almost looked like a large pearl that was colored like a starless night sky. It was both beautiful and oddly intriguing.

Lilla glanced back at the purple wolf-creature, following his gaze to the gray one. "Was he caught in the blizzard outside?" she guessed, turning her attention back to the blue pearl-like jewel after a moment.

“Yes. The Wolfwrath found him. She searched for him after he had been gone for over 30 minutes. They’ve been really close recently so she had gotten worried,” he replied, his tone starting out soft and then morphing into one of slight jealousy as he spoke the last sentence.
